Erm… Ahem!…. Uh… So… Yeah…. This is definitely near the end of N*SYNC’s career and earlier in Tiberlake’s diva phase. He’s the lead vocal in this song and has a huge solo part. It’s pretty much Timberlake featuring N*SYNC.
I don’t like the jazz style to this song. Or R&B, whichever it is. The lyrics are pretty repetitive to me. It’s about having lost the girl of your dreams and living a bland and boring life without her. To be honest the song is pretty boring as well.
“I’ve been sitting here (sittin here)/ can’t get you off my mind/ I’ve tried my best to be a man and be strong/ I drove myself insane wishing I could touch your face/ but the truth remains you’re gone, you’re gone, you’re gone, you’re gone”
None here. Not even close~
There isn’t enough of a story here to rate. Initially there is a Charlie Chaplin reference, but that doesn’t fit with the rest of the MV. You mostly see scenes of the singer with the girl, then the same shot without her.
I don’t even think they counted as N*SYNC at this point. You seriously spend most of the time watching Timberlake’s solo shots. I don’t think the other members even have more than one apiece and he’s got them every other second. Interestingly enough they do two types of group shots (meaning scenes that are repeatedly used). In the first Timberlake isn’t even with the rest of the group, and in the other he is front and center with the others tucked behind him. I’m really glad it looks like his diva phase is behind him.
Oh please, don’t sit there and pretend you don’t dance to this song every time you hear it!
It’s about being in love with a crazy girl. The song is hardly a romantic one, like you always hear. It is telling the girl to get the H out and they don’t want her ever to come back. They tell her to stop coming around and ask her for one reason that they shouldn’t leave her.
“I know that I can’t take no more/ it ain’t no lie/ I wanna see you out that door/ baby bye bye bye/ Don’t wanna be a fool for you/ just another player in your game for two/ you may hate me/ but it ain’t no lie/ baby bye bye bye/ don’t really wanna make it tough/ I’m just sayin that I’ve had enough/ ain’t no lie/ baby bye bye bye”
You know what I just realized? The dance isn’t what I remember. Every dance I went to at school (both of them) and every prom (both of them) they played this song. And every time everyone did the exact same dance. Except that dance doesn’t actually appear anywhere in the choreography…. So how did we all learn and dance to the same thing…. X-Files moment~
It’s fine, I guess. The MV shows the girl cutting the members loose 2 at a time (Timberlake is the only one dropped solo) from marionette crosses (The ting puppeteers hold with all the strings). After she dumps them they fall into the real world, where they spend their time trying to escape and hide from her.
I don’t really have much to say here, other than a warning about total 90s hair.
This is the beginning of that annoying period Timberlake went through where he was a total diva. He stands out in the dance by wearing different colors from everyone else, and has a solo storyline without sharing by having another member there. I’m not saying I hate Timberlake, but there was a period of a few years there where he was totally diva. He’s back to normal now. I blame it on the “Disney Effect”. That’s that weird thing that happens where anyone affiliated with Disney turns psycho.
Yeah, didn’t remember this song, did you? It’s from when I was like 6!
I like songs like this one. It’s romantic, but a lot softer than some of the other songs you hear. It isn’t saying “Love me”, it is just saying “I Love you”. I kind of miss 90s music. You can say what you want about the boy-band epidemic in the US (Seriously, has a girl group ever done especially well in North America? Think about it- only imported groups seem to do well, and soloists) but you have to admit their love songs were really soft and sweet. I know most of the time they ended up disbanding after a year because they hated each other, but the songs were good.
“Your love is like a river/ peaceful and deep/ your soul is like a secret/ that I never could keep/ when I look into your eyes/ I know that it’s true/ God must have spent/ a little more time/ on you”
I don’t think any boy band over the age of 15 (the members, not the amount of time they lasted) choreographed most of their songs. Yeah, I acknowledge that N*SYNC did have some dance songs, but this isn’t one of them.
They did a different kind of approach for this song. There is no love story going on in the background. The story is about a mother and son. You watch him grow with his mom always supporting him. Eventually he becomes a soldier and goes off to fight. His mom (and girlfriend) wait around for letters but they never arrive. A soldier comes to speak to the mother and it looks like he has bad news. After a while is spent on her shocked expression the camera turns and you see that it is her son, home safe from the war.
I don’t really like the bouncing the members do instead of dancing…
Ok, I was never an expert on member names. I know JC (he was my favorite), Joey and Timberlake, but other than that I’m lost. What I’m getting at is that I really hate the hair on the guy with the dreads. Wait, Lance Bass was this group, not Backstreet Boys… Ok, so I know everyone’s name but dread-guy.
As I said, I was single-digit age when N*SYNC and Backstreet Boys both hit the scene, and both groups were at the height of their popularity when I listened to them, so if I get members mixed up please let me know. I still can’t distinguish between the two.
